How did you get started with working out/weight training?

I have always been an athlete. From the time I was five years old I have been involved in one sport or another and had a competitive drive that fueled my passion for sports and fitness. So what does one do with that competitive nature and love of sport after the school days are over??? You find yourself a trainer and get into bodybuilding and competing. I have always gone to the gym on my own accord but needed some direction and insight on how to increase muscle and decrease fat.

When did you get started with Bud and personal training?

I signed up for personal training sessions with Bud Barrett in the summer of 2010. I worked out for 55 minute sessions a few times a week doing some functional training as well as lifting, focusing on individual body parts. I knew that I had wanted to compete in a bodybuilding show and Bud knew just how to lead the way.

Bud is an AVID fitness fanatic, maintaining a lean physique year round with a dedication to the gym second to none. I was lucky in finding him as a mentor and guide to the bodybuilding stage.

When did you get started with competing?

In 2013 I signed up for my first show, The Washington State Ironman in Mill Creek, WA in the bikini division as it best suited my body type. I worked out with Bud 3 to 4 times a week lifting heavy with an emphasis on building glutes and shoulders. The competition took place on October 5th, 2013 and I placed in the top 5 of competitors receiving a crown in my first show! Bud is a wealth of knowledge not only in building muscle in the gym, but the ability to translate that in the kitchen through nutrition. After all, what is hard work in the gym if not supported by a great diet?

Bud was able to construct a workout regimen, cardio schedule and meal plan that fit my needs and ultimately led me to succeed on stage. His demeanor during his training sessions is encouraging and he pushes you beyond your own expectations. I have since competed in other, bigger regional shows and have continued to progress my body development through Bud’s direction. I have loved my lasting results and continue to train with Bud to this day.
